QFZA Explores Pharmaceutical Opportunities at QMED 2019

Qatar Free Zones Authority was pleased to support and participate in this year’s International Medical and Healthcare Exhibition, held this week at the prestigious Qatar National Convention Center in Doha. The event provided an invaluable opportunity to explore exciting opportunities in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, and QFZ representatives were able to introduce the offerings and capabilities of the free zones and QFZ to a wide range of medical and healthcare professionals from around the world, as well as domestic leaders in the space.

QFZ representatives introducing the free zones offerings to Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health for the State of Qatar and Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation.

Qatar’s two brand new free zones, Umm Alhoul and Ras Bufontas, are ideally equipped to support the growth of the healthcare sector in Qatar, offering a wide range of benefits including 100% foreign ownership, zero customs duties and business friendly regulatory framework. The zones are also organized into clusters, each with a particular sector focus and backed by the strength of Qatar’s competitive advantages in logistics and emerging technology. In the short term, they are the ideal spot for both established and startup healthcare companies to develop and market their products and services for the regional and global market. In the longer term, we expect to be able to serve as a global hub for exciting new developments in areas including robotics surgery, wearable technologies and biosimilars.
